Estate access & entry codes
If you live in a registered estate, RapidShield replaces the phone call to the gate. You generate a short code, send it to your visitor, and the security officer verifies it when they arrive.
Who gets the Estate tab
The Estate tab appears only if your account belongs to an estate that has been registered and approved on the platform. Two signs you have it:
- A red card near the top of Home naming your estate: "Generate a visitor entry code for your gate".
- A fifth tab in the bottom navigation bar: Estate.
If neither appears, your estate manager has not added you yet. Ask them to add you as a resident from the estate portal using the exact email you signed up with. Opening the screen without membership shows: "Entry codes are available to estate residents only."
Generate a visitor entry code
- Open the Estate tab
Or tap the estate card on Home.
- Tap "Generate Visitor Code"
Choose what kind of code you need (see below).
- Add a note
"Add a note so you remember who this code is for." Use the visitor's name or purpose: Plumber, Aunty Ngozi, Jumia delivery. The note is what you and the gate officer both see.
- Tap "Generate Code"
The code appears immediately with its validity window.
- Share it
Tap the code to copy it. You get "Code copied", then paste it into WhatsApp, SMS or a call.
Entry, exit and exit-only codes
Tapping generate asks "Generate a code for…" with up to three options, depending on your estate's settings.
Estate managers set a code mode in the portal (entry only, exit only, or both) plus how long codes stay valid. If you only ever see "Entry", that is your estate's configuration, not a bug. See Entry Code Settings.
Sharing and expiry
- Every code carries a countdown such as "Expires in 24:11", and the header states the window, e.g. "Codes are valid for 30 minutes".
- The exact duration is set by your estate manager, so it varies from estate to estate.
- Generate the code when the visitor is close, not the night before. A code that expires in traffic is the most common complaint at any gate.
- Tap the code to copy it. Send it however you like; it is just a number.
Revoking a code
Plans changed? Under ACTIVE CODES, tap Revoke on the code. You get "Code revoked" and it stops working immediately; the gate officer's screen will reject it.
Revoke a code if you sent it to the wrong person, if the visit is cancelled, or if you are not sure who has it. Generating a fresh one costs nothing.
Currently inside and recent visitors
Below the active codes the screen keeps two lists:
- Recent visitors: who you let in, and when. This is what the Exit flow picks from.
- Recent codes: your code history, each marked with its outcome: used, Revoked or Expired.
With no active codes you see: "No active codes. Generate one when you expect a visitor."
Estate membership vs Premium
The app says it on this screen: "Your estate membership covers all estate features. For advanced security, full SOS, ambulance and emergency protection everywhere, upgrade."
Estate membership gives you entry codes and the gate integration inside your estate. It does not give you the SOS slider or Guardian Mode, and it does not protect you at work, in traffic, or anywhere else. Those come with Premium Shield.
Reporting an incident as a resident
Incidents you file with Report an Incident appear in your estate's Resident Incidents list, visible to your estate manager and gate staff, so a report about a broken street light or a suspicious vehicle actually reaches the people who can act on it inside the estate.
